I'm Elísio Donas, I'm a Professional Musician from Portugal with more than 35 years of experience. I'm a Piano and Keyboards player (studied both Classical and Jazz Piano Courses), Composer (from songs to instrumentals, theatre soundtracks, art installations, publicity, Strings Ensemble Composer and Director, etc), I'm a Musical Producer, Musical Director, many years of experience in all kinds of music and musical facets.
I'm also one of the five musicians of Ornatos Violeta, one of the most important, famous and major rock/cult bands of Portuguese music. I've played, toured, and/or recorded, with many of the most important bands/artists/singer songwriters in Portugal (like GNR, Sérgio Godinho, Jimmy P, Per7ume, Blind Zero, Diogo Piçarra and Viviane or Susana Félix and many more) and, for curiosity purppose only, since 1998 I'm always, without exception, on the "Best Portuguese Keyboards Players" lists made by the specialized media, and the two albuns of Ornatos Violeta are always, without any single exception till today, in every single list of 10 best/most relevant albuns of the history of Portuguese Music - our second album, "O Monstro Precisa de Amigos" is always number one or two in all lists, and it was even considered the best album of Portuguese Musical History at some point.
I've recorded and played live with Gordon Gano from Violent Femmes (with Ornatos), recorded with Dana Colley from Morphine (in two songs of my personal project, Gato Morto), recorded with Brazilian artist Milton Nascimento in a Sérgio Godinho’s duet and played live with brazilian Zeca Baleiro in a special Sérgio Godinho's concert.
I've won or recorded in several SILVER, GOLD and PLATINUM RECORDS.
Ornatos Violeta are "oficially" considered one of the most influencial and reference band to/by many musicians, artists and bands post-1999.
And now it's time for my first album of a personal project of my own, Gato Morto, it's going to be released in October, and more than a band I consider Gato Morto an Artistic Colective, with many special friends joining in as special guests stars, like Dana Colley, the incredible saxophone player of the mitical and eternal band Morphine.
Nowadays, and thats the reason that brings me to this internet platform, I'm loving this new facet of my work, Session/Studio Musician working Remotely. I compose and record Piano and Keyboards Arrangements (and also write to Strings Ensembles) working remotely, recording in my Personal Studio, allowing me to work with musicians, artists and bands from all over the world, and I'm loving it!
