Arturo Mesquite immigrated to America at thirteen and became passionate about American standard music of the 20s, 30s, and 40s, which he attributes to a previous incarnation. His lyrics fuse self-awareness, culture, and Latin passion for bringing greater awareness of immigrant cultures to American audiences.
Besides the musical TREE OF HOPE, based on the life of Frida Kahlo, Arturo Co-wrote lyrics for CYRANO DE BERGERAC, performed at the Los Angeles Ford Amphitheater. His other lyric styles include Latin Pop and Television. He studied lyric writing with Pamela Phillips Oland and Harriet Schock ASCAP and received mentoring from the late brilliant playwright George Furth.
He performed in the musical productions; EVITA, FULGOR Y MUERTE, Public Theatre’s Aguila Real with Angelica Aragon, and in the ensemble of Mccallum’s theatre SOUND OF MUSIC.
