Collaboration BIO

Vocalist, Musician, Audio Engineer, Home Studio, Songwriter, Composer, Lyricist

I have always been a band producer. Either I've helped promote and support other musicians, or I've created my own bands. Music is in my blood and I have to be involved in it one way or the other.

After a personal tragedy I experienced, the band I had went by the wayside, and I had to grieve for a while. I had always been a "meat and potatoes" kind of musician. My band of some 5 years or so called "Stray Nimbus" was my focus. Guitars + Drums + Bass = Rock 'N Roll was my formula, and I considered that to be the best way to write and create music. Just raw and energetic.

When things changed, however, I had to find a new way to have an outlet. My, late, wife had turned me on, more-so than I had before, to the industrial scene. I then created a weekly even called Industrial Knight that took place in a basement bar venue, for which I hosted and became the resident DJ, "DJ Knight". It was successful for a year before the place was sold.

About the time that this, ending transition, was happening, I had begun working on music just on a PC. I had bought a decent machine for DJing at the club, so when I was at home I would explore music to play for each weekly event. I wanted to start a music project again, but I was tired of having to train members repeatedly, from scratch, and had the idea that if I could create something to give to people that they could learn without me being there, it would be helpful, and possibly even original and different. So I began exploring different DAWs to start working up these "mock" versions of songs.

Originally I had in mind only to go as far as putting down something basic. But, as I learned and became familiar with these programs, I started to create pieces that were actually sounding as good, if not better, in their own right, than anything I had done before. It became a new interest and art. Because I was surrounded by the industrial world every week, it was soaking into my thought-stream of creativity, and my "meat and potatoes" became more exotic.

I am now nearing completion of my first solo album, of the industrial/post-punk type genre. It has allowed me to expand upon influences that I had never been able to before. Realizing that I have all the tools in the world at me finger tips has opened the floodgates of possibilities, and I am making music at a rate that requires my understanding of the whole process of music creation to have to meet up with everything else. Thus, it has practically brought me here to find ways to collaborate with other artists and engineers.

Being the "starving artist" that I am, working at a small scale with minimal resources, I must find ways to increase my knowledge of mixing and mastering... since I need to have finished this first album through my own devices. So, as it is, I am open to all sorts of avenues, whether it be learning directly from others or having a hand in the process of another's project. I love it all, and that's what I'm here to do.
