I attended the Billy Moore Studio of Percussion in Los Angeles, graduating with the two-year diploma for Drum Set training. I worked in New York, NJ, Connecticut in "orchestra" bands for several years. I can read basic drum charts and notation. I like minimalist structure but am not afraid to get complicated when appropriate. I have spent many years with metronome timing so working with sequenced tracks is a breeze -- in fact, I almost prefer it. But don't mind getting into "artistic" timing (usually more inspiring) and find the middle ground that gives the song the anchor it needs.
I have spent an equal amount of time with a variety of genres and am comfortable with nearly all of them: rock, pop, jazz, country, latin, funk, r&b, hip hop, rap beats, etc. I can be pretty creative with hybrid blends of all these genres.
I have a home audio setup where I can record either analog drums or hook up Roland TD kit. I use a PC with Sonar Platinum, Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 interface, and a number of drum mics to choose from.
Analog drum kits: Mapex "micro" set w/ 18" bd, 8,10,12 toms. Billy Blast birch shell kit - 20" bd, 10,12,14 toms. Variety of cymbals (all good, of course!).
Electronic kit: Roland TD4-KP.
I have about 45 years experience as a professional drummer, with about 3 years professional studio experience over that time. I have a home audio setup where I can record either analog drums or hook up Roland TD kit. As for pricing -- I am flexible. Can go by the hour, or per-song. I'm in Seattle area and on average a session is 3 hours and pays $150-200. If the track needs several redos, that can usually be done within that range. Or if I spend 1 hour and it's a "go" then it would be $50. Maybe even 3 songs in 3 hours, who knows?
