Looks like option two is only if you have your own permission from the original Artist. I would love to participate but I can’t see me paying to play.?

Option 2 will only be viewable by members of Pro Collabs. Your project will not be visable to the public or available in the store.

Sooo I just leave the permission blank?

You can leave the text field blank or type 'No License'. Just make sure your project is a 'Member' project and not a 'Public' project.

Hi Gabe, I totally understand your concern.  This isn't a 'pay to play' challenge or site.  You can choose 'Option 2', start a 'Member' project, which means it will only be viewable to members, so no worries about it being public.  You don't have to be concerned about copyright and such, because it's only seen by our members.  Completely free to start a project, fill in your details/brief/title, etc.  Then you can invite others directly or choose the 'Talent Needed' and an email will go out to all members matching those talents.

We wanted to give options because we know that some members love to do covers, and by purchasing a license, they will be able to put that song into our Music Store, or upload the song to Spotify, Soundcloud, etc, and not have to worry about infringing on anyone's copy-written music.  Once you purchase that license, you can sell the song and freely upload it to any site without any worries.  Currently, they're offering a 30% off coupon on mechanical licenses.  So in a nutshell, it will be around $15-$20 dollars for the license.   Not bad, but again, not necessary if you choose option 2.

Hope this clears things up.  Looking forward to hearing what song you cover!

Sounds like fun challenge. Would "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons done in the style of a piano rock balad count? I actually recorded it this winter and I licensed and released it through distrokid a few months ago, but I would love to add something to the mix. Percussion, pads, and/or orchestra (cello) are a few possibilities.

Unfortunately, the drive that I had all my mix data stored on died a few weeks ago. I have all the original masters, but I will have to start over again and re-record everything for this project.
