If a collaboration partner composes all the instrumental tracks, must a vocalist get 50% of the composition credit just to receive a nod for vocal melodies? Yes, I can trade 50% credit for writing lyrics in exchange for 50% of the composition credit, but that structure doesn't reflect reality. As long as the total equals 100%, why couldn't a vocalist get a smaller percentage of the composition credit for composing vocal melodies?

Hey Ryan

We have some ideas on this and will be looking to see what changes we can make. If you have any specific thoughts or ideas, just mention them here.

Hey Ryan,

We've just completed an update of the composition copyright settings for projects. You should find it much more flexible now.

There are a couple of changes from the previous implementation - you now make reference to songwriter's role (as author, composer, or both) and can set the copyright share to be anything up to 100%.

We've updated the tutorial on this too: https://www.procollabs.com/tutorials/assigning_copyright

In the meantime, you might want to re-check any existing copyright references (for composition only) in the datasheets and split sheets of any songs that you have in the Music Library, as the change may have affected existing share references. PM me if you see anything that looks out of place or if you need any amendments made.

Cheers
Lee
