HI! How about IBAND?
Thinking about starting an iband I compose backing track, has been very active for 15 years over Internet, made many 100 songs in different collaborations. Seeing that I can start a iband that's interesting to me. Can I start a iband alone, compose music and upload, I'm lucky maybe someone shows interest in being in my band. Is this right perceived?
Thank you - Kjell

Hey, Kjell.

To answer your question, yes, you can start an iBand as a solo artist. Though, this might slightly defeat the purpose, as you can already manage your solo music and projects direct from your own profile.

The main purpose of the iBand feature is to allow groups to work together more easily and to give the group a single identity. So your idea of creating an iBand for creating backing tracks would work well if you wanted to 'brand' a certain style or sound for your backing tracks. This would tend the be the scenario when working with a particular group of people, as opposed to alone or with changing/various artists since, as I mentioned, you have your own profile for your solo work.

My suggestion would be that you create a forum post and advertise for other members who might be interested to start an iBand with you. Also, you can contact members directly if you have some preferences and see if they are interested. Most of the time, you will want to start and complete a couple of projects and from the pool of people that you work with, if things gel, then start an iBand from there with a joint vision.

Entirely up to you, of course, these are just my thoughts :)

Hey Kjell, just to add to MonkeyC's comment, why don't you put up a Forum post with a link to some of the music you have in mind, maybe something you have done before, or are working on at the moment, and see if you can get some interest from other members then they will know the style or genre you are thinking of. Or as MonkeyC says, invite people directly to join your iBand, have a listen in the Media Library there's plenty of outstanding tracks, see who you would like to invite on board :)

Hey Kjell,

On another note, since you make completed backing tracks for lyricists/singers – instead of creating a project for each track and risk the chance of them being pushed off the ‘active’ projects page – you can upload the backing tracks to your Media Library.

Every member has an individual media library where they can upload completed tracks/cover art/ riffs/lyrics/sample packs etc.

So you could always upload your backing tracks there, then on your Bio maybe you can include something like: “I create backing tracks for singers/lyricists, check out my media library and contact me if you’re interested in using them”.

Also, whenever you add a new track, you can update your status quote to say something like, “Just upload a new backing track, check out my media library”. Completely up to you, I just wanted to give you some options.

You can find your 'Media' tab on your profile. You can also see the entire media library by going to ‘Community’, ‘Community Media’, ‘Everything’. There you will find an assortment of tracks, lyrics and cover art. You’ll notice a lot of lyricists upload their lyrics there.

When you upload anything to the media library, you have the option to put it up with a CC. (Creating Commons License) Using a CC will allow other members to be able to use your work without having to ask you for permission. Of course they’d have to adhere to the CC license you set. If you don’t choose a CC license, members will have to contact you directly to ask permission.

If you have any questions, we do have a tutorial section.

Hope that helped! By the way, your profile banner is very cool!

Thank you for your help.
Yes, this with media library seems interesting. The question is, will it be easy for musicians to find my music if I put it in my private library. What I understand, I can have unlimited backing tracks in my library.

Yes, members can find music easily - you just have to go to a members 'Media' tab to find their stuff. And you can also put a little note in your Bio section that can direct members to go to your media library to check out your backing tracks.
