The never ending, ending.
The way he changes his snare tone shows why sampled drums fall so short. The reverb on the snare seems so full at times and then he can just make the note shorten by striking the snare differently.

I wonder if some of that reverb on the snare is auto-gated somehow too? I played a show recently and when we watched the video, it appeared that there was almost no reverb on the snare when there were lead vocals present. A sound man trick?
