It seems my account only allows MP3 on any type, be it mix, master sep, or idea.

Yes, as a basic member you can only upload mp3's, which should be good as you are new and just testing out the site.

Hi all, I just got approved and before I start new projects, I'll have a look around first and see how things are done, but first, I know the preferred sample rate is 24bit 44.1Khz, what format? MP3, WAV, Flac, WMA,,,I mostly record in 24bit 44.1Khz and save as WAV. What do ya'll here call separate tracks? Stems, Seps, or any other name? Do ya'll prefer 'stems' as well as the master mix, be uploaded or just the master mix? And do you use a sync tone at the beginning of the master track?

Welcome, Fred. Looking forward to hearing your music!

Stems, seps, yes I've seen them called both. MP3 works well. Once the song is mastered, you'll have so many formats you won't know what to do with them all! Well, at least that'll be the case if MC produces for you ?

Hello Everyone!! I'm the New Kid In Town at the Moment.
My name is Marty Weeks. I've been working in collaboration for about three & a half years with my Fiancee Linda Keser. She's not here yet but might be soon.
Been kind of stumbling around here most of the evening figuring out where everything is.
I was referred here by my friend Tony Pistilli who I cannot seem to find listed as an artist. I know he's here as he did a collaboration with one of your members for the song: "You Found Me." which is an amazing work.
Some helpful tips will be most welcome as I'm not sure if this is a "Collaboration" thing or a pay for services site. It is a bit confusing.
So do please say hello and all that while I get my feet wet here.
And I wish everybody here a safe and Happy Weekend.
Peace!
Marty Weeks

Hey Marty, welcome to the site. :)

The first thing to get ya started would be to set-up your profile. Put up a pic, select your talents & preferred genres, etc. You can visit other member profiles to get an idea on how they set things up. While you're on other profiles, check out their projects if they have any up. That will give you an idea of what a typical project/collaboration looks like.

Then it would be a good idea to take a look through the tutorials that we have available - https://www.procollabs.com/tutorials

Go from page to page, look around, get a feel for the place. It's impossible to figure it out in 5 minutes, so take your time and explore.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. We have 2 moderators on the site who will also be happy to help you along the way.

Hi Marty, welcome to the site, and as Raven says just shout if you have any further questions, or need any help at all :)

Also, to answer this: "Some helpful tips will be most welcome as I'm not sure if this is a "Collaboration" thing or a pay for services site. It is a bit confusing."

It is a mix with most people up for Collaborating and some who work on a "work for hire" basis, everyone has a preference on their profile page that highlights whether they are:
Here for Fun
Here to work
A bit of both
You can always check out what other members preferences are to see what their motivation for being on ProCollabs is :)
