I was brought up by wolves and politically-aware punk rock music, crust and hardcore with a splash of metal, psychbilly and for sure rockabilly... Punk rock introduced me to social justice and human rights issues and taught me the value of questioning established ideologies and not taking anything at face value. I have played in a few scattered bands here and there over the past few decades, but nothing overly serious. It was more a DIY ethos and fistfulls of rage that fuelled my motivations in music and social justice/anti-capitalist actions. Anarcho-punk rock and music in a general sense carried me through an undergrad and a grad school and now I work in one trying to help students beat the system however they can. I only recently discovered digital audio and have been launched into DAWs, plugins, MIDI, etc. trying to learn whatever I can wherever I can. I like making music and was recording through my phone. My YouTube music is mostly terrible with little effort - it was meant to be shared with a potential bandmate in another city prior to learning about sites like this... it sucks and I know it... was a half-ironic joke, but now I want to learn more theory, equipement and anything I can on this musical journey though existence. Cheers.
I have a Gretsch Electromagnetic and a Hughes and Kettner (tube) amp, a beat up Jackson and an Epiphone knock off. I recently purchased a Minilab MK II to smash sound out of... I am learning, so have dipped my feet in Reaper, Ableton and Cakewalk to start, but still have a long road before I feel totally comfortable. I love the idea of studying audio engineering and have been eating articles and stuff when I can. I have several broken mics and nothing really else except out of tune vocals. I love music and just wanna rock in all reality. I might take it more seriously if I get involved in any projects down the line and am actively studying what theory I can in my spare time. I am a rookie, but have found that even recording through my phone has at times produced surprising results! Then again, my ear is not established or trained and I have tinnitus from too many shows without plugs.
