Hi Paul, I'll put something together for you on ways to go about "finding talent" a bit later on today :-)
In the interim, the FAQ's are here:
https://www.procollabs.com/faq
There are also some tutorials here, although not specically on the subject, but will help give you an overview of the site.

Hi Paul, I had a look at the search function in ”Find Artists” the same as you did, and you’re right when looking for “Drums” it throws up about 4 members with recent activity. I then clicked on one of the members to see their Portfolio, then you can see the song credits at the bottom of the page, this shows what instruments they played on each track.
I was quite surprised to see the amount of members who didn’t have any recent activity....there were a lot who had a red bar!!! Here is a link for the key to the coloured bars in case you didn’t see it: https://www.procollabs.com/tutorials/activity-meter At the moment there isn’t a search by “recent activity” or “experience” but they are good thoughts, I’ll pass them on. So, in general when you are looking for someone to collaborate with you, you need to list the talents you are after.
If you have “Drums” under talent needed an email automatically gets sent to everyone who has “Drums” listed as a talent - so that automatically reaches out to everyone - but as you said there are a lot of people not engaging regularly. I personally find the best way to get people onboard is to invite them, you can see who is regularly around from the activity monitor. But as Lee says, sometimes people are just waiting for a track that interests them.
A little trick, if you don’t get much traction on the “Talent” email is to delete the talent and then put it back on, that means another email goes out - but I wouldn’t do that too many times! You can also “Pimp” your project and that will put it on the Most Wanted list on the Activity Tracker - you pimp it by pressing the Pimp wording in Red under your name on the main project page. You can also put up a Forum Post, I’ve done that in the past, sort of “Looking for Drummer” for xxxxxxxxxx, maybe put a bit more detail around what you want. And another way to get people to collaborate with you is to collaborate and audition with them on their projects, it’s a good way to get to know people.
Hope this helps a bit and let me if you need any more info :-)

Thanks Steve, I'll give add/delete and pimping a try. Given I'm workign with the holiday deadline, I'm not sure how much contributing I can do by then, but I'll see what happens. Is there a specific forum I should use?

Thanks, I did see those. I also looked at the blog, but I didn't see search functionality. And I searched the forums as well looking for "Finding Talent". Thought I might find a "Need Talent" forums.
To help, I'll explain in more detail how I was approaching the talent search. I focused first on drummers, doing a search on Drummers (acoustic) and Rock. BTW, the drop down lists take a long time to appear. Then I listen to pieces for a few of the first results, but most didn't have anything to listen to. Next I saw the activity meter, but only the first few results was any higher than red. I wanted to sort by activity, perhaps to find more likely participants, but that doesn't seem possible. Another thought was to sort by experience, but again didn't seem possible.
To summarize, I've got a fast peice that probably requires an experienced drummer. I want a quick way to audition drummers to see which ones to invite. Or maybe a different direction is a way to reach all drummers, via forums or mass direct requests.
I love the idea of collaborating online and I'm interested in learning more. Hope my experience above helps, and looking forward to any tips you have!
Paul
